Not so cowardly lion

This was a fun project that I worked on called Beyond Oz. Essentially returning to Oz 100 years later. This is the character based on the Cowardly lion but as you can see he is far from that and now the same lion. This is a great grandson of the original lion.

Preliminary sketches. By this point we knew this version of Lion was a battle scared, wild character protecting his land. He hates the science that is allowing him to walk but he hates magic even more.

These were the first initial idea thumbnail sketches. Haha I had no idea what direction we were heading in yet.
